St. George Utah Real Estate News: Exciting Developments on the East Side of St. George Boulevard

Welcome to the latest update on everything happening on the east side of St. George Boulevard in downtown St. George, Southern Utah! I’m your Real Estate Agent Mike Sheffield here in Sunny St. George, and today I’m excited to share with you all the vibrant changes and new opportunities unfolding from 1000 East down to 400 East. This stretch of St. George is buzzing with fresh projects, new businesses, and revitalized spaces that are shaping the community in powerful ways. Whether you’re a local resident, a prospective homebuyer, or simply curious about the pulse of Southern Utah’s growth, this comprehensive update on St. George Utah Real Estate News will keep you informed and inspired.

Overview of east side St. George Boulevard with construction and new businesses

Transforming Spaces: The Point at Red Hills by Switch Point

Starting on the far east side along 1000 East, just north of St. George Boulevard, there’s a transformative project underway that deserves special attention. Switch Point, a local organization dedicated to combating homelessness, has launched its latest initiative called The Point at Red Hills. This project involves converting a long-standing, vacant hotel into a supportive housing community. The goal is to provide stable, transitional housing for those experiencing homelessness in St. George, helping them regain their footing and reintegrate into society.

The Point at Red Hills will consist of a total of 110 rooms, divided into 61 bedrooms and 50 studios. This thoughtfully designed community will offer much more than just a roof over residents' heads. Amenities include a convenience store on-site, a gym to promote wellness, a library for education and relaxation, and dedicated case management rooms where residents can receive personalized support. These resources are crucial for helping individuals progress toward independent living and permanent housing.

This project is a testament to Switch Point’s ongoing commitment to our community, and I’m personally excited to watch it come to life and make a positive impact here in Southern Utah. It’s refreshing to see real estate development that prioritizes social good and addresses critical community needs.

Reviving Culinary Culture: Sunday’s Best Brunch Spot at the Old Sakura Building

Next, moving slightly west along St. George Boulevard, many locals have been curious about the status of the old Sakura building. Construction had come to a halt for a period, leaving some wondering what was next for this space. The good news is that this site is set to become the new home for Sunday’s Best, a popular brunch spot originating from northern Utah.

Sunday’s Best has experienced a brief pause in construction, but they are now gearing up to remobilize. They are set to open a downtown Salt Lake City location in May, and construction at the St. George site will resume in June. While there isn’t an exact opening date yet, it’s only a matter of time before locals and visitors alike can enjoy a fresh, exciting brunch experience in this prime spot.

Brunch culture is booming, and Sunday’s Best promises to bring a fresh, vibrant option to St. George’s culinary scene. This addition will not only enhance local dining choices but also contribute to the revitalization of the east side of St. George Boulevard.

Sweet Treats Incoming: Sugar Mama’s Imported Candy Shop

Just one block over, right behind the KFC in the Work Turf building, there is a delightful new business preparing to open its doors soon. Sugar Mama’s Imported Candy will offer an impressive variety of sweets, including gummies, licorice, marshmallows, and chocolates. For anyone with a sweet tooth, this candy shop is shaping up to be a dream come true.

The owners are aiming to open by the end of this month, so keep your eyes peeled! It’s great to see niche businesses like this popping up in downtown St. George, adding character and fun options for families and visitors alike.

Healthy Fast Food: Tossed Salads and Bowls Drive-Thru Coming to Old Frost Stop

Crossing over to the other side of St. George Boulevard, the old Frost Stop location has just signed an exciting new tenant: Tossed Salads and Bowls. This fresh concept originates from northern Utah and brings a drive-thru salad and bowl experience designed to be fast, healthy, and convenient.

The menu will feature a wide variety of salads and bowls, alongside baked goods and kid-friendly meal options. This is a fantastic addition for anyone looking to eat well on the go without sacrificing quality or nutrition. The plan is to open sometime in June, and as soon as I get a specific date, I’ll be sure to share it.

As our community grows, the demand for healthy dining options continues to rise. Tossed Salads and Bowls fills an important niche, providing accessible, wholesome food choices for busy people living and working in St. George.

New Flavors and Fusion: Kebab Cafe Next to Maharaja Indian

Just kitty-corner from Tossed Salads and Bowls, on the other side of St. George Boulevard, is Kebab Cafe. This Mediterranean restaurant opened a few months ago next to the well-loved Maharaja Indian restaurant. Interestingly, both establishments are run by the same group, offering two distinct yet complementary dining experiences right next to each other.

Kebab Cafe has quickly gained popularity for its authentic Mediterranean flavors, providing locals with a tasty and diverse alternative to the traditional dining options in the area. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend stopping by to indulge in some delicious kebabs and Mediterranean specialties.

Music and Art Return to Downtown: Gentry Music’s New Location

Heading one block west and then south to the corner of Tabernacle, there’s a special place for music lovers and artists that has recently opened: Gentry Music. After the Kmart complex shut down, Gentry Music relocated here last year. This move marks a new chapter for a business that has been a staple in St. George for over a decade.

Run by St. George natives, Gentry Music is the only full-line music store in town. They offer an extensive range of instruments, including pianos, keyboards, guitars, and band instruments. Sheet music, repairs, and orchestra accessories are also available, making it a comprehensive resource for musicians of all levels.

But Gentry Music offers more than just instruments. They also feature a full-line art supply store and an art gallery, alongside a recital hall where concerts and events can be held. This combination of music and art makes Gentry Music a cultural hub, bringing creativity and community engagement to downtown St. George.

If you’re passionate about music or art, this is a must-visit location that enriches the cultural fabric of our city.

A Sweet Trio: Scoop Ice Cream, Sloth Cookies, and Perks Coffee

Back on St. George Boulevard just one block over, there’s a fantastic trio of treats in one convenient location: Scoop Ice Cream, Sloth Cookies, and Perks Coffee. This spot has evolved quite a bit recently. Last year, Wetzel Pretzel closed, and Scoop Ice Cream took over that space. They then brought in Sloth Cookies, which used to be located on Sunset Boulevard, and across the street is Perks Coffee.

This means you can now get your coffee fix starting as early as 6:00 a.m., and from 11:00 a.m. onward, indulge in delicious ice cream and cookies all in the same neighborhood. It’s a perfect spot to satisfy multiple cravings whether you’re starting your day or looking for a sweet afternoon treat.

Right next to Smoke Taco, a new health-focused eatery opened just last weekend: Bowls Superfoods. This place specializes in acai bowls and various superfood bowls, offering smoothies and a range of healthy options for those seeking nutritious meals.

With the growing interest in wellness and clean eating in St. George, Bowls Superfoods is a welcome addition to the local food scene. It provides residents with quick, tasty, and wholesome choices that fit an active, health-conscious lifestyle.

The transformation is impressive, with a modernized interior and exterior that breathes new life into the space. This renovation not only improves the bank’s functionality but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of the area, contributing to the overall revitalization of the east side of downtown St. George.
